When Hiring A Roofing Company
Top ten things to consider when hiring a roofing company
FLY BY NIGHT COMPANIES & STORM CHASERS
Avoid storm chasers at all costs. They are quick to show up after a storm and offer services. The downside is if something should arise in the future with their workmanship, it can be nearly impossible to count on a company like this to honor their work. All of our staff works and lives locally with an office right here in San Antonio.
WHO ARE YOU?
Be sure to use a reputable company with real credentials, e.g. a physical address, insurance coverage, a website or online presence and a business phone number. Asking for references can be another way to vet a company. If a company is not willing to invest in these, you may want to reconsider the type of company you are dealing with.
BEWARE OF "PAY FIRST" COMPANIES
Be cautious of roofing companies who ask for money up front. Alamo Roofing does not ask for a penny until your material is delivered. There’s nothing wrong with asking for a deposit; however, there should be some form of collateral to ensure both parties are secure.
Quality of materials
Ask what brand of materials your roofer uses. Are they using the items listed in our re- roof process? Unfortunately, some roofers cut corners with low-grade materials. Industry-standard brands are Owens Corning and GAF. When reviewing estimates, verify the materials and brand names to judge quality and be sure you are comparing apples to apples with other contractors.
